A satisfying crunch for a snack or dinner

Doritos or tostados

Refried beans or bean dip (canned is fine)

Old English or Cheddar cheese, grated

Slices of jalapeno pepper


Spread Doritos (or tostados) with the mashed beans.  Sprinkle cheese over beans.  Top with a small slice of jalapeno pepper.  (A small dab of sour cream may also be added.)  Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minute, or until cheese melts.
2. Napoleon's French Toast

1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon (divided)
2 tablespoons corn syrup (light or dark)
2 tart apples (preferably Granny Smith) cored, peeled and thinly sliced
1 large loaf French bread cut into 1-inch thick slices
6 large eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoon Napoleon BrandyTo serve, carefully remove each piece with a spatula and invert onto a plate, making sure that apple slices are arranged on top. Serve with bacon or sausage. This recipe serves six.

3. Narsai's Chocolate Decadence Cake Recipe

Serves: 12


16 oz Ghirardelli Bittersweet Chocolate
10 tb Unsalted butter
1 tb Flour
4 Eggs
1 tb Sugar
Sweetened whipped cream
Raspberry sauce


DIRECTIONS: Heat oven to 425-F.
Reserve 1/2 oz of chocolate for cake decoration.
In heavy saucepan on low heat, melt broken chocolate with butter, stirring constantly; set aside.
In top of double boiler, beat eggs with sugar until mixture is lukewarm and sugar is dissolved. (Do not overcook.) Remove from heat and beat until quadrupled and very thick.
Blend flour into egg mixture; fold into chocolate mixture, a little at a time.
Spread into buttered and waxed paper lined 8" cake pan.
Bake at 425-F for no longer than 15 minutes.
(Center of cake will be soft.) Cool.
Freeze cake overnight before removing from pan.
Cover with sweetened whipped cream, if desired.
Decorate with shaved chocolate.
Refrigerate until serving time.
Serve with raspberry sauce, if desired.

4. New Wave Eggnog Recipe


4 c Half-and-half
1 1/2c Sugar
12 Large egg yolks 
2 c Heavy cream
1/2c Dark rum
1/2c Brandy or cognac
1/2c Bourbon or scotch
1 pt High-quality vanilla ice cream


In a medium saucepan, combine the half-and-half and sugar.
Cook over low heat, stirring often, until the mixture comes to a low simmer.
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks till combined.
Gradually whisk the hot mixture into the yolks.
Return the yolk mixture to the saucepan.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until the custard lightly coats the spoon.
(An instant-read thermometer inserted in the custard will read 180 degrees F.) Immediately strain the custard through a sieve into large bowl.
Cool to room temperature, then cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until very cold, at least 4 hours or overnight.
When ready to serve, whip the cream until soft peaks form.
Stir the whipped cream, rum, brandy, and bourbon into the chilled custard.
(The eggnog can be prepared up to 1 day ahead, covered, and refrigerated.) Pour the eggnog into a punch bowl.
Place the vanilla ice cream in the punch bowl and serve.
Makes about 1-3/4 quarts.

5. No-Bread Sandwiches Recipe


--------- EGG SALAD FILLING ---------
Dill pickle wedge
Salt & pepper; to taste
4 Lettuce leaves
4 Tomato; slices, thin
8 Monterey jack cheese, slices

--------- SANDWICH ---------
Mayonnaise, to moisten
Hot pepper sauce, to taste
1/3c Celery, minced
3 Eggs; lg, hard cooked, * 
Stuffed olives


* Eggs should be peeled and chopped.
Prepare the egg salad filling.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to blend the flavors.
Spread 4 of the cheese slices with the filling.
Place tomato slices on top of the filling.
Top with the lettuce leaves and salt and pepper to taste.
Cover with the remaining cheese slices.
Serve on individual plates with the pickles and olives
