Base: Meats

Number of Servings: 6

2 Pound(s) Ground beef
2 Tablespoon(s) COOKING OIL
1 1/2 Cup(s) Chopped celery
1/2 Cup(s) Chopped onion
6 Ounce(s) 1 cn Tomato Paste
2 1/4 Cup(s) 3 cns Water
2 Cup(s) Uncooked noodles
1 Cup(s) Diced American cheese
1 Cup(s) Sliced ripe olives
2 Teaspoon(s) Salt
1/2 Teaspoon(s) Pepper

Brown meat in oil in electric skillet or large frying-pan. Add celery and onion; cover and cook slowly 10 minutes. Add tomato paste, water, noodles, cheese, olives, salt and pepper; stir to combine. Cook slowly until noodles are tender, about 30 minutes.

NOTE: This is just as good on the second day.

2. Half Moon Cookies

Base: Cookies

1 1/2 Cup(s) Sugar
3/4 Cup(s) Shortening
2 Eggs
3 Cup(s) Flour
1 Teaspoon(s) Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon(s) SODA
1 Cup(s) Buttermilk

Cream together the sugar, shortening, and eggs. Set aside. Mix together the flour and baking powder. Set aside. Mix together the soda the buttermilk. Alternate flour and buttermilk while stirring into creamed mixture. Drop by 1/4 cups onto a greased cookie sheet forming balls. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Flip over when cool and frost half with white frosting and half with chocolate frosting.

3. Halibut Orange

Base: Main dish

Number of Servings: 2

2 Pound(s) Halibut, fresh or frozen
4 Tablespoon(s) Butter
1 Rind of orange
1 Juice of orange
1 Teaspoon(s) Lemon Juice
1 Salt and pepper to taste
1/8 Teaspoon(s) Nutmeg
1/4 Cup(s) Minced Parsley

If halibut is frozen, thaw it. Wrap fish thawed or fresh in a paper towel for a few minutes to remove excess moisture. Place fish in a single layer in large, thickly buttered, microwave safe baking dish. Combine the remaining ingredients, except the parsley, and pour over the fish. Bake at high for 10 to 12 minutes, or until fish flakes easily. Let stand 5 minutes, then remove to a hot serving dish. Pour any sauce remaining in the dish over the fish. Sprinkle with minced parsley and serve.

4. Ham 'n Cheese Broccoli Quiche

Number of Servings: 8

1 refrigerated pie crust
1 Cup(s) Milk
4 Eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 Teaspoon(s) Dry mustard
1/8 Teaspoon(s) Pepper
1 Cup(s) Cooked ham, cubed
1 1/2 Cup(s) Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
1 Cup(s) Frozen broccoli flowerets thawed
1 Tablespoon(s) Onion, chopped

Prepare pie crust according to package directions for filled one-crust pie using 9" pie pan. Heat oven to 350F. In medium bowl, combine milk, eggs, dry mustard, and pepper; set aside. Layer ham, cheese, broccoli and onion in pie crust. Pour egg mixture over ham, cheese and broccoli. Bake for 40 - 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes before serving.

NOTES : Can substitute one 10-oz. pkg. frozen chopped broccoli for frozen broccoli flowerets. Can substitute any cheese of preference; Swiss suggested.

5. Hot Artichoke Dip

1 (14-ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained, chopped
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder


Combine the artichoke hearts, cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise and garlic powder in a bowl and mix well.  Spoon into a greased baking dish.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly.  Serve with melba toast.
